Gerard has been harassed, bullied, and heckled at shows, online, and in the media- including the piss bottle throwing incident- and I just think about how vitriolic and insidious and everywhere the culture of homophobia was during Y2K and the early 2000s and how lonely and awful it must’ve been especially as someone who already struggled with their mental health. And then I see them now. Headlining festivals in a pretty dress. Not manually lowering the pitch of their voice. Wearing tailored dresses. Singing “I’m her kind of girl and she’s my kind of boy.” Giving so much love to the fans. Giving so much love to the band. Painting I ❤️ MCR on the drumhead. And I absolutely lose my fucking mind.
